In July - August  I was lucky enough to take a trip to the far north, to Svalbard, an archipelago about halfway between the north of Norway and the North Pole. It was a dedicated photographers' trip arranged by Arctic Wildlife Tours.  Below are a few images from this trip.  If you would like to read all about our adventure, pop over to my blog

We spent 11 days aboard the MS Origo, which carried 12 passengers, six crew, and a captain, plus four nature guides.  We would photograph either from the various decks on the ship or go out in zodiacs to get closer to the wildlife.

The zodiac is not quite as close as it looks, this image was taken from the ship using a 600mm lens with a 1.4x extender, giving me 840mm, thus compacting the perspective.

Polar Bears
Polar bears were the main target species, of course, although there was so much else to see and photograph too.
